Wells Fix-Up Day
Saturday, March 1, 2008
Volunteers from Wells and surrounding areas will gather at 8:00 a.m. at the LDS church and be directed to work sites throughout Wells. A sack lunch will be provided.
Professionals will lead teams of volunteers in the following projects:
ROOFING, CHIMNEY REPAIRS WINDOW REPLACEMENTS, PLUMBING, DRY WALL CRACKS, PAINTING, DEBRIS REMOVAL and SMALL FOUNDATION PROBLEMS.
If you would like to volunteer, donate, or need help with a project (all help is free) or if you know someone that needs help, please contact: Bishop Robert Johnson at: 340-5934, or the Community Volunteer Coordination Center at: 752-3763
Please register by Thursday, February 28, to ensure supplies are gathered and volunteers are matched to projects.

TURN OFF YOUR PROPANE TANK AND CALL
752-3421 or CALL 911
Additionally, please visually check the venting connections on all vented appliances to insure the venting is still properly connected.

Wells Rural Electric Company Kept The Lights On!
No Power?
The Wells Rural Electric system had very limited outages during the recent earthquake activity. If you are without power, and have not reported the outage, please call the WREC office immediately.
Hazards Outside?
While cleaning up around your home and outbuildings, if you see any downed or sagging wires, hazardous conditions or general service that seems out of the ordinary please call.
Damage Inside?
Inside your home, if you notice exposed wires, loose outlets, or lighting fixtures that may hve shaken loose and you need the service of an electrician please call: 752-3328.
If your electric water heater has moved you should turn off power at the breaker before attempting to move it back into place.
WREC Internet Service remained on!
With one minor exception Internet service provided by Wells Rural Electric was in continuous service during the earthquake. All WREC internet system customers are currently up and running. If your WREC Internet is not in service please call us.
Commercial Lighting
Representatives from BPA will be at the WREC office Thursday and Friday - February 28 and 29 to discuss options for energy efficiency lighting. Call if you would like more information.

Currently limited funds are available for 'Homeowner Rehabilitation' in the Elko County area. For more informaton on the program, funding available and funding terms please contact:

Wells Transfer Station
Any City of Wells residents who are utility rate payers will receive access to the transfer station at no charge after showing a City of Wells utility bill at the city offices or to the attendant at the station/yard. At times you will be given an access code/combination to the transfer station.
Non-residents or those showing up without a City of Wells utility bill stub will be charged as follows:
1. Minimum Charge = $5.00
2. 1/2 Pickup load (up to the rail edge) = $6.00
3. 1 Pickup load (up to the cab) = $12.00
4. 1 Overflowing Pickup load = $15.00
5. Sofas, Large Chairs, Appliances or Mattresses = $5.00 per item
OTHER APPLICABLE RULES:
No Household Garbage
Recyclables:
Aluminum Cans - Must be seperated from other garbage.
Glass - Must be seperated from other garbage.
Newspapers - Must be seperated from white paper and magazines.
Yard Waste, Brush and Tree Limbs must be transferred to a different location. Ask for information about this at the City Offices.
No Hazardous materials, asbestos, tires, dead animals or commercial waste allowed.
The decision of the City or its attendant will be final.
