Viewing Notes:
In viewing this site, the Text Size should be set to Smaller with IE and Medium with other browsers. You can change these settings in your browsers top bar under View. This will present these pages as they have been designed to appear.
In addition, there should not be a slide-bar at the bottom of your viewing window. If there is, maximize your page size by selecting the middle button in the upper right corner of your browser windows top bar. Once you've done this you should only see a right side slide bar. This too is also the way these pages were designed.
I strived not to run these pages off to the right of the screen and thereby eliminating the all too time consuming scrolling of left and right, top and bottom - click, click, click.
With this done you only have to scroll up and down. Then again, if you have one of those new, well, it was new once, three button mice that allows you to press the top center button or scroll wheel then you can do that and let the page scroll by itself at the speed you select. This is also referred to as 'auto scroll'. Makes it rather nice for pages with a lot of text to read.
For those of you who have a five (5) button mouse you can hold down the Ctrl button on your keyboard and scroll left to right in the same manner.
For you optical or wireless mouse users - you're on your own. (I've recently discoverd that these work without any problems).

Page Construction:
Page construction was done using HTML, JavaScript, CGI, MicroMedia and Various Applets. Page coding was written without double-coding for either Apple/Macintosh OS or any Windows OS in particular. In other words, this website was coded for cross platforms*. Alright already! It works the same on any operating system including, and not to forget, IBM. I did not use Flash on this site but it does support it.

*As of recent, many new systems have found this to be the best way for writing code for web pages of any kind on any computer no matter what OS or browser is being used. Wow, sometimes it's nice to be ahead of the techno-genius' who know everything. lol

Webmaster Brief:
The WNOL Webmaster, of course that's me, has more than 24 years of Internet/Web experience and Internet Industry Knowledge as well as over 46 years of art, design, graphics, illustration and marketing to add to the mix.

The Staff of WNOL consists of one individual, me. I am totally responsible for every bit of content that appears on this site such as local information, news, weather, sports, layout, graphics, links and so forth. Unless otherwise specified...and it usually is.
For the most part, I usually choose to remain behind the scenes of what goes on here at WNOL...but, that's not always possible. How does one guy stay behind the scenes when their name and identity are all over it? Information regarding this individual staff member beyond this should be addressed to: Me, The Webmaster

WebTV & AOL Users:
Please make note that I have not tested this site with WebTV or AOL users and at this point have no intentions of doing so. If you use either of these and are unable to navigate and use this site as it is designed then please send me an email and let me know what it is that isn't. I will try and see what I can do for you but it probably won't be a lot. It would be much easier to buy a real computer and use reliable internet software.

First and foremost, WNOL is the oldest, officially recognized and visitors choice as the number one web site for and representing Wells, Nevada. Why do I say it's Number One? Ah, that's easy. Take a good look around the internet, find other sites that claim some sort of association with Wells, Nevada, come back here and then draw your own conclusions. If you're not convinced by the time you get back here that it's not, then let me know how it became 'next to Number One' and I will fix that quick. What am I saying here? Well, this site just won't be out done.
This site has been bumped down the list on a few occasions because some sites are willing to spend the money to buy their position on some of the top search engines. Well, just because they can do that doesn't make them better. WNOL doesn't buy it's position - is earns it.
WNOL has taken a whole new innovative approach to assisting the citizens of a small rural mountain and high desert community to get connected to the world through the technology of the Internet.
There truly is something for everyone on this site and once you've spent a little time here you will know what that means.
I didn't want this site to look like all the other community pages out there, so, I took my time to create one that would stand away from them. Not to say they aren't any good, they are, but, they all look and function about the same.

Wells, Nevada ON LINE! was created in November of 2000.

There have been several changes throughout the past few years with content and design always aiming to maintain simplicity and quality. WNOL has grown beyond its expectations and there is still a lot of work to do. The internet, in this case, cyberspace, is relatively infinite, therefore, I would imagine that I am not limited to what I can do, but, just because I can do it doesn't mean I will.
I have noticed that many of the new site tools which are being used these days really slow down the load time on many ISP servers, including DSL and Wireless. I do not use Flash on these web pages at this time because it's still unstable and is rather slow for the most part. It doesn't really matter what kind of a connection you've got. If the pages are designed with too many scripts, applets and other devices then they're just too slow. The news pages carry programs that are constantly being updated throughout the day and with the type of scripts they use it can sometimes cause a page to upload rather slowly. Just be patient. At the most, it usually only takes about a minute.

There are many aspects within the universe of online publications. Others sites that are out there are very well done and I wouldn't even dream of trying to compete with them (even though WNOL is not trying to compete with anyone). It is here that I will try to bring the best of these marvelous sites to you in an ongoing effort towards reducing your surf & search time. It is, also, my way of complimenting and saying thank you to these other sites and Webmasters for their efforts and contributions through their appearence with WNOL.

One other great feature that is offered is that I will even create a banner ad for your business on this site at no charge! No charge?! Just read that again so I don't have to repeat it. If you have a logo that you would like to include with a free banner ad just send it to me in the form of a .jpg .jpeg or .gif format with an image size not exceeding 300 pixels wide by 200 pixels high or above a resolution of 96%. Please do not send it as an attachment if possible. WeI rarily ever access attachments of any kind. Sorry. You can also Embed your logo within your email by pasting it directly, that is, provided your particular email offers this feature. This website is absolutely Free and will be kept that way as long as there is the Internet, the World Wide Web, Satelites, Electricity and, last but not least, great hosts like Angelfire/Lycos. You can't find a better deal than this anywhere.

Oh yeah, WNOL is not a business and, just so you don't get confused, WNOL is not an Internet Service Provider (ISP).

Another feature you will find here is that there are no pop-ups embedded on these pages unless they are those which are a product of the host, of which, I agreed to when registering this site. Most often they offer you a variety of other internet choices and ads that may be of interest from time to time in relation to their services. Angelfire/Lycos is a very secure and stable site provider. If you click off to one of the many links or other sources found herein - Angelfire/Lycos and WNOL cannot be held responsible for the pop-ups you may find when browsing these other sites outside of this one.
